Prototype

Could this be real?

Supplying drugs for the brain surgery!

Lets find out

A team of students from Cardiff University UK, wanted to design and develop a specialized robot required for brain surgery and to bring their concept to life, they built a prototype using 3D printed components. Their innovation combined robotics and medical technology, paving the way for advancements in neurosurgical procedures.

It’s important to note that this device is purely a prototype and not intended for clinical use or hospital deployment. It was developed as an educational project by first-year students aiming to enhance precision and minimize invasiveness.

Working Principle

The robot features two articulated arms that secure an end effector—a pen used to simulate an actuator for drug delivery during brain surgery.

Motors attached to each arm sequentially activate the first arm and then the second, using an additive control code to ensure precise, coordinated movements.
